A FIFE man has been sent back to prison for a year after a high court judge decided he should spend more time behind bars.
Christopher Brown was originally convicted at the High Court in Edinburgh of assault to injury and danger of life, and assault to injury back in 2018, with both charges being domestically aggravated.
Following Brown’s release on licence, he committed another offence and appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court. The sheriff in the case then referred the case back to the high court.
Brown’s case was subject to a section 16 hearing, whereby a judge decides whether he should be reimprisoned for the prior offence before carrying out a sentence for the new crime.
Today [Friday, January 15], a judge decided that Brown should serve a further 365 days in prison for the aforementioned two charges.
A spokesperson for the High Court said: “When the case called today the Court returned Christopher Brown to prison for a period of 365 days to date from today.
“This period must be served before the sentenced imposed for the new offences starts.”
