A COWDENBEATH woman is asking people to contribute to her 50th birthday celebrations by showing future generations how they coped with lockdown.

Sharon NicAoidh, who runs Sharon’s Knitted Toys, is having a sponsored crochet event which she hopes will raise money for The Clearing in Cowdenbeath.

Writing on her GoFundMe page, Sharon said: “It's my 50th birthday on November 27 and as we can't hold parties due to current restrictions, I have decided to commemorate my birthday by holding another sponsored event in aid of The Clearing in Cowdenbeath.

“This time I shall be crocheting baby hats for the Premature Baby Unit and helping to raise funds for projects The Clearing are planning this winter such as delivering food parcels and assisting those in the local community.

“The Clearing has helped me out so much these last few years both physically and emotionally, they have kept me going through the lockdown by being so supportive and inspiring me to follow my dreams, so this is my way to repay their kindness.

“All money will go straight to The Clearing and on the day of the event I shall be posting video diaries on my Facebook page www.facebook.com/sharonsknittedtoys.

“Please give as much as you can, whether it's £5 or £20, it will be greatly appreciated. The event will take place on the November 27 from 12pm to 3pm on Saturday, November 28.”

Sharon has also appealed to followers to take part by posting family friendly videos of them taking part or having a quiet night in so that future generations “can see how we coped during lockdown”.

She continued: “It is my way of repaying The Clearing for all the emotional and physical help they have given me over the last few years and especially this year where I think I would have suffered quite badly with the lockdown, but their support has made sure that I am not feeling isolated, lost or struggling with issues. And they have helped so many people I know within the community.

“We may not be able to be together, but I would like one day where everyone can relax, forget about the troubles outside and for peace at a time when there’s so much anxiety and hatred.”
