FIFE will remain in tier three restrictions as of Friday – but it will now be illegal to leave the area unless under certain circumstances.

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announced this afternoon that 11 council areas will move to tier four, but Fife will remain in three having been put in it last week.

The first minister also said nobody in a tier three or four area must leave that region unless it was in “exceptional circumstances” which will be set out at a later date.

She said the measures were designed to give some “limited and careful” easing of the rules over the Christmas period.
