NHS Fife is carrying out test and protect protocols at more than 20 schools in Fife as of today, including a primary in Cowdenbeath.

The sharp rise in schools with positive cases comes on the day that Fife officially entered tier three after the news was announced earlier in the week.

NHS Fife said they were carrying out checks at 21 schools today, including Foulford Primary School in Cowdenbeath, where two positive cases have been confirmed.

The schools affected by the new investigations are: Bellyeoman Primary School, Calaiswood Primary School, Carleton Primary School, Coaltown of Wemyss Primary School, East Wemyss Primary School, Kirkcaldy West Primary School, Lawhead Primary school, Methilhill Primary School, Pathhead Primary School, Sinclairtown Primary School, Southwood Primary School, St Agatha’s Primary School, Strathallan Primary School, Torryburn Primary School and Touch Primary School.

Of those primary schools, Torryburn Primary is currently closed for “staffing reasons” and has eight confirmed cases.

There are also five secondary schools affected: Auchmuty High School, Kirkcaldy High, Levenmouth Academy, Viewforth High and Woodmill High.
