A FURTHER 12 people linked to Craigie House Care Home in Crossgates have tested positive for coronavirus, taking the total number of cases there to 37.

Last week NHS Fife said that 25 residents and members of staff were found to have Covid-19 and this evening's update confirmed that the situation has worsened.

A statement said: "NHS Fife’s health protection team and the Fife Health and Social Care Partnership continue to work alongside Fife Council’s environmental health department to support the management of the care home and offer advice to reduce further transmission of the virus.

"Visiting at Craigie House Care Home remains suspended."

The care home is one of 12 run by Kingdom Homes, which started in 1984 and has a head office in Kirkcaldy.

Craigie House has 30 bedrooms and shares its grounds with Alexander House Nursing Home, which is also owned by the same company.

NHS Fife added: "It is extremely important that those intending to visit residents in any care home refrain from doing so if they feel unwell or have any of the known symptoms of Covid-19, such as a high temperature; a new, continuous cough; or a loss or change to the sense of smell or taste.

"Anyone experiencing the well-established symptoms of Covid-19 should immediately self-isolate and arrange a test using the NHS inform website www.nhsinform.scot or by calling 0800 028 2816."

A local online support hub has been created to provide information on testing for Covid-19 and updates on the pandemic.
