THERE has been a further rise in central wards with the highest infection rates in Fife.

The Scottish Government’s neighbourhood interactive map shows which council wards are worst hit by Covid-19 to a weekly average based on a population per 100,000 people.

In total for the week October 29 – November 5, the latest information available, there are eight central wards in the highest category of infection rates of over 100 per 100,000 people.

This represents an increase of two from the week previous.

In the top category this week are: Ballingry, Cardenden, Cowdenbeath North, Crossgates and Halbeath, Hill of Beath and Kingseat, Kelty East, Lochgelly East, and Lochgelly West and Lumphinnans.

This means that Ballingry, which was the lowest placed ward last week has jumped to the highest.

In the third highest category with 50-74 infections per 100,000 people are Kelty West and Lochore and Crosshill.

For the first time since the data tool became available, there is no central ward in Fife with an infection rate lower than 50-74.
