CROSSGATES will not be getting a Post Office this year after all, it has emerged.

It was announced just last week that the village would be getting one on November 12, but it has since been announced that it won’t be happening until next year.

The potential addition to the village was said to be a very welcome piece of news for residents, who will now be disappointed.

A Post Office spokesperson, said: “The plan to restore a full-time Post Office service to the Crossgates community has been delayed until January to allow the necessary staff training to take place.

“We apologise for this delay as we know that the community was looking forward to a full-time service starting before Christmas.

“The Mobile Post Office service that has been providing a temporary service will continue until we can open Crossgates Post Office.”
