TWO young female friends have told a jury how they were raped by the same man in a Fife bedroom.

An 18-year-old college student from Fife claimed Devin Andrews forced her to give him oral sex and, on another occasion, brutally raped her on the floor of her friend’s home.

The man denies three separate rape charges involving two 16-year-old girls at an address in Lochgelly, Fife.

She told the High Court at Livingston that she did not realise the sexual acts were rape until a police officer told her about non-consensual sex acts during an interview about Devin’s alleged attack on her friend.

The second young woman, also aged 18, told how Devin raped her in her bedroom while her parents and siblings slept unaware in their bedrooms.

Asked why she didn’t scream or call for help she said: “I’ve always protected my sister. I thought if I shouted my little sister would come down and if she’d seen that it’s traumatising for her and it’s traumatising for me.”

The other alleged victim said she was “furious” that the accused had put her through a painful sexual ordeal without consent.

She said: “I was fine with the touching and all that. I wasn’t happy with the sex and being tore open.”

Andrews, 18, of Skinner Steps, Cupar in Fife, denies three separate rape charges involving the two females in 2018 when the girls were just 16-years-old.

He has lodged a special defence to each charge claiming that the complainers consented to sexual activity with him and that he believed them to be consenting.

On the second day of evidence at the High Court in Livingston the student said the other alleged victim was in bed asleep when Devin tried to get her to give him oral sex.

She said: “He took his bottoms to his knees and then he tried to push my shoulders down. I was really reluctant to go down because I didn’t really want to do it. I was down there I felt I didn’t really have a choice.

“I felt really uncomfortable. I didn’t really know how to react because (my friend) was on the bed asleep. Obviously you don’t want to be doing stuff like that when your friend’s in the room.”

On the second occasion she said she was willingly kissing the accused “with tongues” while he played with her under a duvet, again while her friend was asleep in the same room.

She said: “I was pretty comfortable but uneasy because my pal was in the room, but I was OK with that situation. He pulled me on top he’d pulled down his joggers. I kept moving slightly away so it wouldn’t go in. I was really scared we were going to get caught.

“I remember saying to him something along the lines of: ‘I don’t want to do it in case we get caught’. He said ‘It’ll be fine just be, like quiet and dinnae make it obvious’.

“He pretty much kept a grasp of my waist . He just sat me on top of it and pushed me all the way down. I just remember being in excruciating pain.

“I didn’t feel comfortable; I was sore. He was saying you’re fine. I don’t remember much during the incident I just remember being in pain.

“I wanted him to stop, I didn’t want to do it. I just wanted to have a good night and be with him and my best pal. Instead I got a horrible situation.”

Under cross examination by defence counsel Brian McConnachie, she said she wasn’t even aware she had been raped until she had to speak to the police about her relationship with the accused and the police officer told her: “These are all indications that you were sexually assaulted.”

The witness added: “I was in denial because the way I saw it was I had an obligation to do those things to him which I was not.

“I had the right to say no. I had the right not to have any of that shit done to me.”

The other complainer told how Anderson pinned her down and tried to force her into giving him oral sex before pulling off her pyjama bottoms and raping her twice.

She told the jury: “I can only remember feeling numb. I didn’t know what to think. I couldn’t do anything.

“I’d already told him to stop but he wasn’t stopping. Nothing was working.

“The last thing that he’d said to me was about not to be worried, and that was it.”

The trial, before Lord Uist, continues.
