A TEENAGER has denied raping two schoolgirls in Lochgelly as he goes on trial.

Devin Andrews, 18, is accused of three separate rape charges involving the pair, who were both aged 16-years-old at the time of the alleged offences.

Andrews, of Skinner Steps, Cupar, lodged not guilty pleas to all of the charges prior to a jury being selected at the High Court in Livingston on Monday.

Jurors, sitting in an Odeon cinema 25 miles away from the court building, are expected to begin hearing evidence from the complainers on Tuesday.

The case is being tried by a remote jury due to coronavirus restrictions.

The accused is alleged to have assaulted the first of his alleged victims at an address in Lochgelly on an occasion in July 2018 by sexually assaulting then raping her.

He is also charged with two counts of raping the second complainer at the same address on between 1 July and 2 September 2018.

A fourth charge of rape was withdrawn by the prosecution.

The trial, before Lord Uist, continues.
