SENIOR pupils at Crossgates Primary School did their bit in keeping the area tidy earlier this month after carrying out a litter-picking exercise.
The P7 pupils were required to carry out an activity which helped their area as part of their John Muir Award and subsequently arranged a litter pick in the local area, to the delight of residents.
Principal teacher, Jemma Thomas, told the Times: “Our P7 children arranged a school litter pick as part of their John Muir Award after noticing how much litter had gathered at the back of the school over lockdown.
“To earn their John Muir Award the children have to contribute to the conservation of their local area and will take part in several in litter picks around the village over the course of the year.
“On this occasion they collected 2,397 pieces of litter and shared their hard work at our virtual assembly to encourage all the children in our school to dispose of their litter responsibly.”
