A COWDENBEATH man found a woman’s debit card at a local supermarket and used it to go shopping.

Instead of handing it in or trying to find the owner, Kenneth McKean used the card to buy goods at a nearby shop.

At Dunfermline Sheriff Court, 44-year-old McKean, of Dalbeath Crescent, submitted guilty pleas.

He admitted that on November 3 last year at Morrisons, Raith Centre, Cowdenbeath, he found a debit card in the name of a female without attempting to discover the owner and stole it.

He also admitted that on the same day at Good News, Broad Street, Cowdenbeath, he pretended to an employee that he was the lawful holder of the card and obtained goods worth £26 by fraud.

The court was told McKean is currently on a drug treatment and testing order.

Sheriff Pino di Emidio deferred sentence until November 13.
