A COWDENBEATH man committed stalking offences against his former partner by bombarding her with unwanted letters for months.

Mark Martin, 56, of Copeland Crescent, appeared for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He had wanted to rekindle their relationship but just landed himself in trouble.

Martin admitted that between March 1 and April 30 and then between September 1 and November 18 last year, he engaged in a course of conduct which caused his former partner fear or alarm by repeatedly sending her letters when he knew such contact was not wanted.

The court was told the couple had been in a relationship between 2012 and 2015 when his partner ended it.

However, in March last year, Martin began writing several letters a week to the woman asking for their relationship to resume.

Defence solicitor James Moncrieff said: “The majority of the letters were sent in the early part of the year. He then stopped but sent a few more later in the year.

“There was nothing threatening in the letters.”

Sheriff James MacDonald told Martin he knew the letters were not wanted but he had persisted in his actions.

He imposed a community payback order with six months supervision and a one-year non-harassment order.
