SCOTRAIL is diverting trains around a car which “encroached” onto the railway line just outside a station.

The company updated railway users on Twitter with a picture showing an abandoned car blocking the railway line out of Stirling station, and said there were also reports of a car on the line at Fort William.

A post on the account told travellers: “A car has encroached onto the railway at Stirling. We're working closely with the emergency services.

“We're able to divert trains around this obstruction by using Platforms 6 & 9 at the station. Use P6 if you're heading for Perth/Aberdeen and P9 for Glasgow/Edinburgh.”

In an update they said a Network Rail team was on its way to help get platforms two and three open again “as quickly as they can”.

Addressing the issue at Fort William they said: “We have had reports of a car on the line at Fort William, services will be delayed until we can remove the car. Please keep an eye here and our app for live updates.”
