AN ADORABLE puppy will receive care and guide dog training thanks to a £2,500 donation from Amazon Dunfermline.
Guide Dogs Scotland provides life-changing services for blind and partially-sighted people and have a West Fife fundraising group led by a team of dedicated volunteers.
The group consists of puppy-walkers who house and train pups for the first year of their lives, as well as fundraisers, sighted guides, speakers and boarders.
By donating £2,500, the Amazon team in Dunfermline have met their target to name a guide dog puppy when it is born in a few months.
This name will be with the pup for life, and they will also receive a birth certificate and six-week photograph.
Jamie Strain, site leader in Dunfermline, said: “There are already some excellent puppy names being suggested by our team and we can’t wait to receive more information about the special pup we will have had a small part in caring for.”
The support for Guide Dogs follows a £1,000 donation Amazon in Dunfermline made to the charity in 2017.
In 2019, a group of guide dog pups visited the fulfilment centre as part of their training programme.
The aim of the visit was to expose the dogs to a working environment, helping them to become accustomed to loud noises and activity.
Diane MacLeod, fundraising co-ordinator from Guide Dogs’ West Fife Group, added: “Thank you Jamie and team for this generous donation.
“Due to COVID-19, we have been unable to hold our usual fundraising events and this donation will go a long way to help us take care of a guide dog puppy in training.”
