FERDINAND the goose is in a right flap at the Meedies – as he thinks he's a swan!

The bird of a different feather has flocked together with some new pals on the loch, to the amusement of staff and visitors.

Asked about the goose with an identity crisis, Ian Laing, park manager at Lochore Meadows, laughed: "I'm being put under pressure to start a Facebook page for him but I'll leave that to others!

"It's certainly a bit odd but it's a lovely wee story.

"We've got a lot of swans here, the Scottish SPCA have been bringing them all summer long from their rescue centre at Fishcross, which is helping to boost our numbers.

"But, and I don't know quite how it's happened, a white goose has appeared and thinks it's a swan as well.

"It goes up and down the loch with them, eats with them and sleeps with them, it's a funny thing to see this wee goose with the great big swans.

"We think it's a male, visitors are now starting to call it Ferdinand anyway, and there's something about his personality that's just making everyone smile."

On the 'I Love the Meedies' Facebook page, Catherine Soutar said: "Saw Ferdinand this morning quite happily with the swans. I think they have adopted him.

"It was great to see him after reading the previous posts.

"What a wonderful place the Meedies is, I love it down there, we are indeed very lucky to have it. The staff do a magnificent job."
