A PUPIL at a Lanarkshire high school has tested positive for Covid-19. 

A number of youngsters and staff at Braidhurst High, in Motherwell, are now self-isolating following the confirmed case of the virus earlier this month. 

Health bosses have moved to reassure parents there is no wider threat to the school and say the individuals are being supported.

Dr Martin Donaghy, NHS Lanarkshire consultant in public health medicine, said: “NHS Lanarkshire’s Test and Protect team has carried out contact tracing after an individual who attends Braidhurst High School tested positive for Covid-19. They are currently self-isolating at home along with their household members.

“NHS Lanarkshire is working closely with North Lanarkshire Council with regards to the case and has contacted all close contacts.

"Public health advice has been given to these individuals and they are being told to self-isolate along with their household members.

“The risk to the wider school community is currently low and the school will remain open as normal."
