COWDENBEATH has played its part in the North of Scotland Rotary District 1010's £21,000 donation to the Beirut Explosion Disaster Fund.

The Cowdenbeath Rotary Club made a donation of £250 to the District fund, which has been set up by the 80 clubs help ease the problems caused by a explosion caused by a large amount of ammonium nitrate stored at the port of the city of Beirut, causing at least 200 deaths, and massive damage.

At Thursday's Zoom meeting of the club, treasurer Dennis Brooks reported that the District had sent the £21,000, put together by clubs ranging from Orkney in the north to Fife in the south, to the rotary movement in the Lebanon to help the community in its bid to recover from the August 4 disaster.
