ANNABELLE Ewing has received confirmation from the SNP’s National Secretary that, following the completion of the confirmatory ballot of local members, she has been confirmed as the SNP candidate for the Cowdenbeath constituency at the 2021 Scottish Parliamentary Elections.

Speaking on Friday Ms Ewing said: “I am humbled by the level of support I have received from members across the constituency that has resulted in my being, firstly, a sole nominee, and now selected as the SNP Scottish Parliamentary Candidate for the 2021 Holyrood elections.

“It was the greatest privilege of my life to have been elected to serve as the first SNP MSP for Cowdenbeath Constituency in 2016.

“I have worked hard to stand up for my constituents and to ensure that their voices are heard without fear or favour".

She added: “There can be absolutely no doubt that there are difficult times ahead for all of us with the continuing coronavirus global pandemic and the health and well-being, and economic challenges that will entail.

“I have also stood up for my country against increasingly hostile overtures from Westminster with Boris Johnson and his Tory Government determined, on the one hand, to drag Scotland against our will off the no-deal Brexit cliff edge, and with the other, undermining the entire devolution settlement with the power grab represented by the Internal Market Bill

“There is much work to do as a parliamentarian in the months and years ahead, and it is clear that we will need strong SNP representation In the next Parliament to navigate our way through this and to ensure that Scotland gets the choice to vote for a better path as a normal, independent country.”
