FIREFIGHTERS were called to put out a fire at a Cardenden power substation on Sunday.
Residents in Benarty reported hearing a loud bang at the Westfield Substation which was followed by rising smoke.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 4.49pm on Sunday, September 20, to reports of a small explosion and smoke within the power station at Westfield, Cardenden.
“Operations Control mobilised three appliances and one foam unit to the scene.
“Prior to the arrival of crews, a small fire had been extinguished.
“There were no reported casualties. Firefighters left after making the area safe.”
