POLICE were warm in their praise for drivers on the A92 on Sunday who reported a swan having difficulties near the carriageway.
The bird was reported to be experiencing problems moving easily and drivers were concerned that a vehicle may inadvertently strike it.
When notified the police called in the SSPCA who raced to the scene. It was likely that the swan had made its way onto the road from the nearby Gelly loch.
Said a police spokesperson: "Many thanks to all motorists who contacted Police Scotland to report an injured swan on the A92.
"Our officers were able to locate the swan on the westbound carriageway between Cowdenbeath and Crossgates junctions.
"The SSPCA were quickly on their way to help the swan".
