THIS week's Down Memory Lane pictures come from a book that the late Arthur Nevay put together from photos he received from so many local people in the four villages of Glencraig, Crosshill, Lochore and Ballingry.

He called it Youth Organisations In The Benarty Area and this week we are concentrating on the chapter on the 98th Fife Kirktoun Scouts.

Soon after Ballingry started to develop in 1948 Rev John Sievwright set up the 98th and Arthur, along with Alexander Justice, George Justice and Thomas Moffat, were the early scouters and many more followed.

The top picture is the celebration in Ballingry of the 80th anniversary of the formation of cub scouts, while the middle top picture is a group bound for Innerleithen for a summer camp in the 1950s. The middle bottom shot is of an outing to Vane Farm in February 1987 while the left hand picture is from the same outing on the shores of Loch Leven.
