A NON-HARASSMENT order has been imposed on a serial domestic offender.

Stuart Clark, 36, now of Main Street, Kelty, was told by a sheriff he had “a very bad record for domestic abuse”.

At Dunfermline Sheriff Court, Clark admitted that on January 19, at an address in Cowdenbeath, he acted aggressively, shouted and swore at his wife repeatedly and made offensive remarks.

Depute fiscal Jill Currie said a row started when Clark’s wife returned home after being out of the house for a period.

Clark started shouting at her and said: “Do you expect me to believe you were at Next?”

She phoned the police but Clark continued in this behaviour.

He went into the bedroom to confront her saying: “I’ll do what I want. This is my house.”

He then followed her downstairs continuing to be verbally abusive, the court was told.

Defence solicitor James Moncrieff said: “He’s had issues with drink. He knows he’s not a very nice person when he consumes alcohol. He also has trust issues.”

Sheriff Charles Macnair pointed out Clark’s history of domestic offending, which had seen him put on supervision for a total of five years.

He had also taken part in the domestic abuse groupwork programme.

The sheriff told Clark: “Despite all that, you still behave in this dreadful manner to your partner.”

The sheriff said Clark’s attitude in the social work report was also “very troubling”.

“He says the main problem is her ‘nagging’. He also thinks a fine should be enough for ‘a little shouting and swearing’,” added the sheriff.

Sheriff Macnair imposed a community payback order with 150 hours of unpaid work and a two-year non-harassment order.
