Kind-hearted business owners have spent hours helping car owners hit by flooding get their vehicles squeaky clean all free of charge.

Michael and Christine Mclauchlan of Next Gen Detailing and Valeting in Crosshill were heartbroken to see so many locals affected by flooding and in a bid to help someway offered their services to those in need.

Incredibly they've helped 15 drivers bring their cars back to life and have not asked for a penny.

Christine told the Times: "We were woken up to the news of the floods and then we saw the pictures of Victoria Hospital car park and we both said it was heartbreaking.

"I told Michael that I wished there was something we could to help and he said he's already thought about it and that I should put a post on our page offering people help to drain and remove water.

"There was some 2/3am finishes but it was worth it.

"We have two boys and they've both said how proud they are of their dad for helping people.

"I think what Michael does is amazing too but I am biased!"

Michael began his own business last year after spending years in the industry working for the likes of Vauxhall.

Christine added: "We were telling customers that we didn't want any money for it so they were asking for a full valet but we give them a discount too.

"They've been in lots of lovely gifts to say thank you and it's adorable - that made it all worth it!

"There was a man whose Audi and work van were both severely flooded.

"They said they were going to write off but it was his pride and joy.

"He went to see if he could get the engine running again and managed to get fixed and then we had a go.

"The car had fully emerged in water and it took a lot of work.

"We had to shampoo it three times alone as it smelt so bad.

"He was really upset when he brought it in but once he saw it he said it looked better than before!

"He was practically doing backflips!

"Michael keeps saying he doesn't want a fuss and he was just helping out but he's really good at what he does!"
