A BALLINGRY man tried to throw himself in front of cars after a drinking session.

Jordan Baxter, 24, of Malcolm Street, appeared in the dock at Dungermline Sheriff Court.

He admitted that on April 21 last year, at Station Road, Lochgelly, he shouted, swore, struggled violently with police and attempted to throw himself in front of moving traffic.

He also admitted that on June 21 this year, he breached a curfew when he was found to be on the B920 at Glencraig, instead of being at home.

Depute fiscal Jill Currie said police attended a report of an accident at 3.40am on June 21.

The accused was lying on the pavement having been in the accident. He was taken to the Victoria Hospital. Police checks revealed he should have been at home at that time on curfew.

In the previous incident, at around midnight, police were called to a report of a male lying on the road, apparently encouraging cars to run over him.

When officers arrived, Baxter was swearing, ranting and raving, completely incoherently.

He then tried to throw himself onto the roadway and into the path of oncoming traffic.

He was grabbed by police, began to struggle and was making threats. After five to 10 minutes of this he was arrested, the court was told.

Sheriff Alastair Brown told Baxter he was putting himself at serious risk by getting so drunk. He added: “You’re also a pest to other people.”

Baxter was placed on a four-month restriction of liberty order.
