OUR collection of Down Memory Lane photographs this week come from the book compiled by the later Arthur Nevay called 'Glencraig The Lost Village'.
Two of the photos, situated middle top and bottom, give a real indication of the impact the mining industry had on the countryside.
Walking down to Glencraig from Lochgelly the skyline to the east was dominated by the massive Nellie Colliery pit bing, which was only feet from the main road. The bing was with you right down into the village.
The top picture shows Main Street, Glencraig, where the shops were. The three shops that can be seen are Charlie Barclay's chemists; then Crieghton's Clothiers, and John Hunter, Licensed Grocers. The left hand picture shows Hunter's Inn and Burnside Cottages.
If you have any old photographs you would like to see in Down Memory Lane send them to editorial@centralfifetimes.co.uk
