THE 2020 Cardenden Community Bonfire and Fireworks Display is yet another victim of the coronavirus crisis.
The village has already seen the return of the Bowhill Highland Games cancelled because of the pandemic along with the village fair.
Now the highly popular Bonfire and Fireworks display, which regularly attracts 4,000 people to Wallsgreen Park, has followed the same way.
Alex Burns, MBE, chairperson of Cardenden Community Bonfire & Fireworks Committee, said on Thursday: "It is with deep regret that the organising committee of the annual Bonfire have decided to cancel this year's event that was due to be held on Friday November 6.
“As everyone is aware, due to the current pandemic, health and safety must be paramount, hence the sad decision to cancel.
“We hope to begin planning for next year's popular event soon. The committee would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their continued support."
