A MAN caused a disturbance at the home of his former partner, who was living next door to him at the time.

Colin Jeffrey damaged a door during the rumpus in the early hours of the morning.

At Dunfermline Sheriff Court, Jeffrey, 50, now of Lochleven Road, Lochore, submitted a guilty plea.

He admitted that on November 11 at an address in Lumphinnans, he shouted, swore, threw household items and damaged a door.

Depute fiscal Dev Kapadia said the incident took place at 2am.

He went on: “The accused was shouting unpleasant comments at his former partner about her having a new relationship.

“They were living next door to each other at the time.”

The court heard that after Jeffrey and his partner split up, they were living in adjacent properties.

The situation was exacerbated when the woman’s new partner moved in to live with her.

Defence solicitor Gwenn Haggerty said: “It was an unpleasant incident but there is no suggestion that there was any physical altercation between them.”

Sheriff Derek Reekie pointed out that other family members were present at the time.

He commented: “Everybody’s been caused quite a bit of distress obviously. However, he has no previous convictions and this happened during the breakdown of a relationship.

“It was a stressful situation but he behaved in a wholly inappropriate way.”

The sheriff fined Jeffrey £300 and ordered him to pay £30 compensation for the damage caused.
