YOU can now get rid of more of your rubbish at Fife Council's recycling centres after lockdown restrictions were lifted.

And it's all thanks to members of the public for playing by the rules.

The centres will now accept white goods and small electrical appliances, not including TVs or monitors, for disposal while, from Monday, those getting rid of waste will be able to make multiple visits a week.

A post by the council said: "Thanks to the public following the restrictions at our recycling centres, we are now able to extend what can be disposed of and how often you can visit.

“We’d like to thank you for continuing to follow the rules that have allowed us to re-open safely.”

The booking system is still in place and visits to recycling centres should still be made by one person at a time, with the two-metres distance to be maintained from other users at the centres.

From Monday, people will be able to book more than one visit to a recycling centre – bookings can be made for up to three times in seven days.

The council said: "This will be monitored for fair use and waste crime.

"Frequent use will be referred to a recycling advisor and abuse will lead to being banned."

In West Fife, the recycling centres at Dunfermline, Dalgety Bay and Lochgelly are open but the facility in Cowdenbeath remains closed.
