Two cats have been found dumped outside a city centre vets.

Scottish SPCA have launched an urgent appeal for information after the two male cats were found outside Vets Now on North Street at midnight last Wednesday.

They were located in the stairway to the right of the premises, accompanied by a note that said their owner could no longer care for them.

The Scottish SPCA is now trying to trace the person responsible for abandoning the animals.

Scottish SPCA inspector Sian Robertson said: “We are looking to speak to the person responsible for abandoning these animals.

“The cats were found in a small stairway to the right of Vets Now, which leads to a doorway for offices.

“They were left with a note advising the owner was no longer able to care for them.

“When staff examined the pair, they found no apparent injuries or illnesses.

“We are very grateful to the staff at Vets Now for taking excellent care of the cats until we were able to pick them up.

“They are now in the care of one of our animal rescue centres and both appear to be in good health.

“Although we appreciate that the owner obviously intended for the cats to be cared for and we’re glad they chose to hand them into a safe place, this is not the correct procedure to follow if you wish to give up an animal for rehoming.

“We are keen to trace the owner and if anyone in the area recognises the cats, we would ask they call our confidential animal helpline on 03000 999 999.”
