COWDENBEATH have been handed an attractive, if very tough, Betfred Cup draw.

Monday's ballot saw Cowden come out in Group A with three Championship sides, Hearts, Inverness Caley Thistle and Raith Rovers and League 1 side East Fife.

It sees two Fife derbies guaranteed and games with two sides who will be fancied to be challenging for honours in his season's Championship.

At least one of the matches will be a home derby and the fixtures will shortly be announced.

Meanwhile Kelty Hearts, who are in the competition through winning the Lowland League last term, also have an interesting draw.

In Group C they have Premier League sides St Johnstone and Dundee United; Peterhead from League and League 2 side Brechin City who they could have met in the Pyramid Play-offs last season had Covid-19 not seen the season end prematurely.

That draw almost certainly guarantees one Premiership side visiting New Central Park, for the Betfred fixtures on Tuesdays October 6, and 13 and November 10 along with Saturday October 10.
