THIS week's Down Memory Lane photo collection comes from Brian Guthrie, of Crossgates.

Said Brian: "I took the aerial shot of the first new Beath High School from a helicopter in the mid 1980’s when helicopter trips were available on Cowdenbeath Gala day!

"The photo of Beath House was taken from the back garden of a prefab in Blackburn Drive, Cowdenbeath. The site of Beath House, which was demolished in the 1970’s, is in the vicinity of the present Gateside Court, Cowdenbeath.

"The prefab shown was 43 Blackburn Drive. I was led to believe that Blackburn Drive took its name from The Blackburn Aircraft Company which switched from aircraft production to prefabricated units for prefabs immediately after the war. I’m not sure if this is correct but it certainly sounds plausible.

"The picture of the back of the old Beath High School may be the only one in existence of the rear of the building. I took it in 1988 just prior to demolition starting."
