THREE weeks ago, nine intrepid women set off on a virtual adventure to cycle the Pacific Coast from Canada to Mexico covering 1,848 miles.
Very much part of the venture to raise funds for MND & CHAS was Lochgelly's cycling gran, Janet Kerr.
Janet, who suffers from Parkinson's, has taken on a huge number of challenges to raise funds in the fight to find a cure for the disease, and she was delighted to get involved in this test which saw the nine people cycling the 1,800 plus miles on their local roads and logging their individual tallies. And they completed it riding together the closing miles together.
Janet said this week: "We managed this in super quick time so decided to cycle all the way back too!
"Last Sunday, eight of us had the pleasure of meeting up to ride the final miles together.
"A few mechanical issues, and some showers of rain, didn’t dampen our spirits. Unfortunately, I didn’t contribute as many miles as I would have liked, due to two punctures! But thankfully, we had plenty of extra miles in the bank to compensate.
"We celebrated our achievements in style with lunch at Gleneagles having completed 3,696 miles and raising over £1,000 for MND & CHAS."
