AS they couldn’t hold Benarty Gala due to the Covid restrictions, Benarty Events Group are looking to provide all the primary school age kids and those younger with a LOCKDOWN LUCKY BAG this weekend.

In these terrible times The Group looked at various things to do but in the end none were suitable to the Government rules. The original idea was to tour the streets but the volume of parked cars was always going to be a problem.

“We also thought about a small gathering which seems to be popular, but social distancing would be a problem. We didn’t want to take any risks to people's health," said BEG chairman Eddie Easson

But on Saturday August 8 they will be out in the area at the following times: - 11 am until 11.45 am - Lochore Welfare (car park) Crosshill. 12 pm until 1pm - Lochore Miners Institute (front of building) Lochore. 1.15 pm until 2.15 pm Benarty Square (front of Benarty Community Shop) Ballingry.

Added Eddie: "Please bring the kids along to collect their bag of treats and hopefully we’ll be joined by some fun characters to brighten up the day.

"An extra wee treat will also be given to any children who dress up for the collection of their LOCKDOWN LUCKY BAG.

"Also on the day anyone decorating their garden and holding their own wee party please send your photos into our Facebook page and we have some prizes up for grabs too!!

"We look forward to seeing you all this weekend but please remember we will be adhering to social distancing measures".

Once all the restrictions are dropped The Benarty Events Group will be looking to do something for their community. They have a lot of ideas and hopefully something will be implemented in the near future.

During the lockdown The Group took the opportunity to enhance the gala area. The tired grass was dug up and the ground levelled as best as possible. New grass was sown and has taken well.

The work was carried out solely by Ian Bruce and his task force. The works were totally funded by The Benarty Events Group for the community to enjoy a better grassed area. All costs and payments for this task will appear in The Group’s accounts which will be published in their Annual Report.

“Hopefully in the coming weeks we will be able to have our A.G.M. to which everyone is welcome to attend," added Eddie.

"There will also be refreshments served. We hope the Lockdown Lucky Bags will be a success and there will be plenty of them.”
