THERE was drama at Lochgelly Golf Club on Sunday when the Scottish Charity Air Ambulance had to land on the course after a man suffered heart trouble.

The SCAA air ambulance was able to land on a fairway at the course and get the patient aboard.

The aircraft then headed for Edinburgh Royal Infirmary where the man received emergency treatment and was reported to be making a steady recovery.

The incident created quite a stir in the town and underlined the value of the work of the Scone based SCAA, which works in conjunction with the Scottish Ambulance Service Air Operations division, in providing the service which can bring important access when swift medical assistance is needed.

The SCAA relies entirely on public donations but gets strong backing from this area, and throughout Scotland, and is able to factor two air ambulance helicopters.
