THIS week's Down Memory Lane comes from the 1992 calendar produced by the Benarty Community Centre Over 50s Local History Group.

The top picture shows Pipe Major Alex Walkingshaw on the left preparing to lead the Gala Parade in Glencraig of 1935.

The botttom left picture shows Glencraig Colliery in 1925 which was one of the big pits in the local coalfield and employed 800 men at its peak of production.

The top two pictures show North Glencraig and the Gothenburg Pub in the village; and North Glencraig from the bridge.
