JUST before the summer break Beath High School staff were delighted to host the much anticipated P7 Transition Visits to the Foulford Road school.

These visits were carefully planned to create both a meaningful and safe experience.

The first part of the morning was spent with primary teachers to allow young people to reconnect with their P7 class and to share their recent experiences. During the rest of the morning the young people also had an opportunity to meet key members of the school including the Rector, Steven Ross; Depute Rectors, Guidance Team, Support and teaching staff.

Due to the current situation these visits were slightly different to usual with each House visiting on a different day: · Ness House – Monday 22nd June· Katrine House – Tuesday 23rd June; · Rannoch House – Wednesday 24th June· Lomond House – Thursday 25th June.

Said Nicola Barker-Harrison (Depute Rector/Year Head for S1 and S4): "Visiting in these groups promoted House identity and also encouraged the young people to start to build friendships with other members of their new classes.

"The P7s were able to win points towards the annual House Cup Competition through a socially distanced Sports Challenge – with Katrine coming out as the winners for the week.

"The senior buddies provided excellent support throughout the morning and led tours of the school to ensure familiarisation with the building and facilities. As well as enjoying displays throughout the corridors, a highlight of the tour was a short practical lesson within Science.

"Judging by the smiles on their faces everyone had a great time. We were extremely impressed with the enthusiasm and conduct throughout the visits. We hope everyone has a lovely summer and we look forward to warmly welcoming our new S1 cohort in August!"
