AHEAD of Scottish Government lockdown guidelines changing on Friday July 10, making the wearing of face coverings mandatory in shops, Dunfermline and West Fife MP Douglas Chapman has shown off his covering to remove the stigma of wearing one.
Up until now shoppers have been encouraged to wear coverings when entering stores, but this has never been a requirement and has meant hundreds of people have entered shops without a covering.
That is all set to change when the new rules come into force and Mr Chapman is encouraging people to take pride in wearing their covering.
Commenting, Mr Chapman said: “There is no shame in wearing a mask when out in public, when doing so you are helping to protect the people around you and save lives.
“To help, you could buy yourself a trendy mask, there are all sorts of patterns and designs out there. It doesn’t even have to be a mask, just a covering like a scarf.
“We have got to this stage in the process because of everyone’s efforts and how well we have all followed the guidance, please follow this one too as it will help to protect others and progress towards some sort of normality again. Thank you.”
