A RARE local history book has been reprinted to raise finds for Crossgates good causes.

Behind the move is local man Kevin Guthrie who was taken by the eyewitness accounts of rescues which took place at the Hill of Beath and Donibristle pit disasters.

But if you want one you better move fast because around half of the limited run have already been purchased.

Kevin told us: "I have recently had a very rare 1902 book about the Hill of Beath and Donibristle mining disasters reprinted.

"The original is so rare that the British Library does not even have a record of it.

"It includes an extraordinary eyewitness account of the rescue efforts at Donibristle and rare portraits of the victims and rescue parties.

"Profits from the new book are being split between three good causes. A coronavirus hardship fund in Crossgates, Crossgates Community Woodland and the village's Greenfingers Club".

He added: "It is a limited run of 100 copies, more than half of which have sold already.

"Priced at £12 the book can be delivered free locally or posted for an additional £2, a flat rate for single or multiple copies. To order just email fordellbook@outlook.com "
