FAMILY holidays this summer are going to feel very different due to the coronavirus crisis.

To help parents plan, a new Active Families Outdoor Programme will be available from Monday July 6 from Fife Council and two local facilities will play a key role.

Families across Fife can enjoy a variety of outdoor activities, making it easy to find something to do close to home. And the best thing is, they're all FREE!

The following activities will be available and people can book one hour sessions - Monday to Friday from 10am – 4pm. These can be booked online at www.fife.gov.uk/activefamilies and include Golf, Tennis, Bowls, Volleyball, Archery, Orienteering, Boccia, Sports Fitness Circuit and Cycling.

And in the Cowdenbeath - Lochgelly area two key venues are Lochore Meadows Country Park, and the Fife Cycle Park, at Glencraig.

Activities are available on a rotational basis – some will change each week at each location, giving everyone the chance to try something new!

Paul Vaughan, Head of Communities and Neighbourhoods said: “We want to encourage everyone to become more active and enjoy physical activity, sport and leisure.

"The active families programme, along with Fife Cycle Park, will allow this to happen in a fun and safe environment, using some of our green space across Fife.”

"We encourage families to take part in these activities and look forward to welcoming them back to our outdoor spaces, but we’d also like to remind everyone to continue observing physical distancing, regular hand washing, and use a common sense approach.”

Fife Cycle Park will also re-open from Wednesday July 15. To help support families during the summer, activities at the Park will be FREE during the school holidays. More details on how to book activities will be available soon.
