DURING this week’s meeting of the Scottish Parliament’s Covid-19 Committee, Cowdenbeath MSP Annabelle Ewing, sought and received an assurance from the Cabinet Secretary for the Constitution, Europe and External Affairs, Michael Russell, that those suffering from anxiety were included in those exempted from the rules governing the wearing of face coverings on public transport.

Ms Ewing said: “With face coverings having become compulsory on public transport in Scotland, I wanted to secure an assurance from the Cabinet Secretary that the exception relating to face coverings causing difficulty with health issues would extend to mental health issues such as anxiety and I was very pleased to receive that reassuring clarification.

“This is an issue on which I have been contacted by constituents affected by these issues and the Cabinet Secretary’s response will be a welcome reassurance indeed.
