THE team at Benarty Food Bank have been warm in their praise for the amazing work by a Lochore girl who used her artistic talent to raise almost £2,000 for the Crosshill Centre facility.

And the donation coincided with the six anniversary of the opening of the food bank.

Eleven year-old Maci Fotheringham, who attends Lochgelly West Primary School, handed over a cheque on Friday for the massive sum of £1,886.86.

Maci achieved the fine total, by creating rainbow pictures signifying the tremendous work of the NHS throughout the Covid-19 crisis and distributing them in the local communities for donations to raise funds for the Benarty Food Bank.

She also took part in the three days' street collection which was undertaken by the Benarty Fundraisers Community Group helping raise over eight tonnes of food, and £3,203 in donations from businesses the general public in Lochgelly, Glencraig, Crosshill, Lochore and Ballingry, which the food bank serves.

Maggie Bell, of BFB, said that Maci was 'simply an inspiration'.

"This young lady really is a very hard worker and also she is very talented," said Maggie.

"Not only did she do that then she was out going around the streets with the Fundraisers' collectors and gathering items and donations for us so we cannot thank her enough for all the work she has done on our behalf, she is simply an inspiration".

Our pictures show Maci handing over her cheque to Maggie Bell, and the scene during the Fundraisers' collection in Ballingry.
