FIVE local charitable organisations have this week shared the £3,625 raised by Alex Campbell on a very stormy May day.

Councillor Campbell cycled 30 miles around Lochore Meadows Country Park as strong winds and heavy showers hit the Meedies.

He was determined to back the charities that have been ensuring the elderly and vulnerable have been getting daily meals during lockdown and cycled round the country park six times.

The Kelty and Cowdenbeath councillor has been impressed with the efforts of the volunteers in Kelty, Cowdenbeath, Hill of Beath and Lumphinnans.

The £3,625 has been split between Max’s Meals, at the Maxwell Centre in Cowdenbeath; Lumphinnans Community Council; Hill of Beath Community Council; Oor Wee Café in Kelty and Crossgates Together along with Crossgates Community Council.

Said Alex: "The efforts of the volunteers in ensuring that senior citizens and those who are at high risk are getting a meal every day has been really impressive.

“There has been a host of good community support groups working hard during lockdown and helping people in the community.

"I want to do something to raise some funds for them and I decided to do six laps around the Meedies and although the weather was a bit of a test with a very strong wind, I found it enjoyable and the support I had from some enthusiastic friends helped me get there.”
