WITH the sales of his book progressing well Ballingry man Paul Boggie is this week turning his attention to the five day event in Wales which he hopes will further support his quest to help the homeless.

The Brecon Professional Boxers' Charity Challenge will see Alfie McArthur, and his fight colleagues, battle it out over a number of very tough physical events.

The whole five days will be streamed on You Tube and Paul hopes that some additional sponsors can be picked up as the event gathers pace.

It all gets under way on Wednesday, June 10, at the Army facility in Powys and the 10 fighters will be taking on amazing challenges to support the homeless, vulnerable children in the UK, the NHS and senior citizens' charities.

Taking part will be Alfie, Naeem Chauhdry, Victor Edagha, Richard Harrison, Alfie Clegg, Geoff Dixon, George Lamport, Sean Grant, Pete Nurdin, Rhys Saunders and the fearless Laura No Pain Gain.

Paul's book is going to be the centre piece of his Scottish campaign, but he hopes that the combined event will be be a big earner for making things better for homeless people all over the UK.

He said: "Alfie has done some fantastic recruiting to get his fellow pros to take part and they are all very enthusiastic wanting to raise money for the the charities.

"I want do as much as I can to help those who have hit hard times because I know that most people have had bad breaks which have set them on the road to being homeless and maybe just need a helping hand to turn things around."

While the weather forecast is a bit mixed for the five days of the test, that could be a godsend.

Added Paul, from Kirktoun Park: "The recent very hot weather could have been a problem had it persisted because it could be really tough for the troops going through the tests.

"They will all be wanting to emerge as the top contestant but they are very keen to raise as much as possible for the causes."

Paul's book, 'Heroin to Hero,' has been on sale for two weeks now, and tells the story of how he managed to ditch a life of drugs to become a member of the Scots Guards and he hopes to be able to sell enough books to give his quest a good start.

He went on: "The social media aspect of things will be very important, but through You Tube we will be reaching all over the world and hopefully we might find some people interested in getting involved.

"The more viewers we attract the more money will be raised and I hope it will give the appeal a very good start.

"We want to give homeless people the chance to change their lives around and I cannot thank the fighters enough for helping us by volunteering to take part."

The competition starts on Wednesday and you can follow the Pro Boxers Charity Event on You Tube.
