A LITTLE piece of Lochgelly history will soon go under the hammer on the shores of the town’s loch.

The Wemyss Trust lodged with Fife Council prior notification of intention to demolish the loch clubhouse, at Gleniston, near Auchtertool.

The clubhouse was a heavily used for many years as Lochgelly Water Ski Club housed some very prominent championships, especially in the 1970s and 80s.

The loch was once a very popular spot for the local community and was used on a regular basis for water skiing up until the early 1990s. Since then the loch has not been used for water sports.

At that time the loch was a popular place for people to visit on fine sunny summer afternoons.

The local authority has no opposition to the plans but observed: “Suitable fencing and appropriate signage should be erected and displayed around the perimeter of the site for the duration of the demolition works”.
