COMPLAINTS and concerns about lockdown breaches have led to Fife Council staff investigating 121 enquiries.
Protective services are leading the local authority's public health response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
A report, to be presented to councillors today (Thursday), explained: "This involves dealing with complaints, concerns and requests for advice regarding social and physical distancing measures that are in place to help combat the virus.
"The enforcement approach is proportionate and pragmatic, following the four 'E's: Engage, Explain, Encourage, Enforce.
"This mirrors the approach being taken by Police Scotland."
It continued: "As of May 11, we have received 121 enquires relating to the COVID-19 regulations that either have been or are undergoing investigation.
"Proactive work since lockdown has included providing information via Fife Council’s web pages, social media and by way of press releases.
"An example of the types of proactive interventions carried out by protective services include contacting food businesses, to identify which businesses are trading and if they are compliant with the new COVID-19 public health requirements, as well as food safety, and provide advice as required.
"Other areas of concerns that have been ongoing include product safety matters, including hand sanitiser, scammers taking advantage of the pandemic, price gouging and issues relating to holiday cancellations, such as refunds."
