ON Thursday night Cowdenbeath singing sensation Odette Clark (McDonald) treated her friends, neighbours and all the residents of Gray Park, to a third ‘street concert’.

This street performance was to highlight the work that the NHS are doing during the pandemic and to highlight the Thursday night public get-together clap their hands and make a noise for NHS and key workers.

Odette, 44, has been singing at least 30 years starting as young teenager, to singing and touring with cabaret stars like, Joe Longthorne, Freddie Starr, Dean Park and Sydney Devine; starring in pantomimes and performing with other bands and acts worldwide.

The respected mother two she is also married to established guitarist Andrew. All of Odette’s family have actively supported and encouraged Odette to do this concert, and sometimes join in.

The family have lived in Cowdenbeath’s new Gray Park for several years now and are well liked and respected by their neighbours and have actively supported local community based initiatives within the area and Andrew is also involved with West Fife’s Progressive Rock Festival in aid of cancer charities, Prog in the Park.

The concert, on Thursday started at 7.30, with a short break at 8pm to join in and show respect to the national ‘hand clapping out doors' on a Thursday night. There will be more to come, weather depending of course, and a ‘Street Party Barbie & Music' has been already been suggested for all to attend when the rules have been relaxed more.

When being asked about why she was doing this, Odette said: “Living through this national pandemic and going through this lockdown, has brought together our whole street and community, some people are even walking or cycling from other streets.

“It was really amazing to see our neighbourhood and friends enjoy themselves and keeping to the social distancing laid down by the Government. "We are living in tough times right now and it is so important that we should still be able to enjoy ourselves by doing something like this and seeing the smiles on our neighbours and friends faces, as some of them have never ventured out the door.”
