PANAS restaurant in Rosyth is giving away free meals to carers to thank them for their hard work.

Every Monday, the business will be closed to customers so they can share some goodwill with those on the frontline.

The restaurant is asking those who work in the care industry to get in touch.

They will cover Rosyth, Dunfermline, Inverkeithing, Dalgety Bay and the surrounding area.

Owner Madhav Pantha told the Press: "Carers are working above and beyond at the moment and we want to reward them for their hard work.

"We started on Monday and our first delivery went to the staff at Orchardhead House.

"We were glad we could bring a smile to their face!

"Carers are right on the frontline and they deserve all the credit they can get."

Panas handed out more than 20 meals to Orchardhead House on Monday and they hope to be able to bring many more to other carers in the area over the coming weeks.

The restaurant, on Queensferry Road, specialises in Indian, Chinese and Thai cuisine and only opened just before lockdown in February of this year after taking over the old premises of Cleo’s Bar, which closed unexpectedly last summer.

After a temporary closure, the business has managed to get back up and running as a takeaway service only at the moment.

"We were originally open seven days a week but we're just operating from Tuesday to Sunday, 4-10pm now," Madhav added.

"That's when we decided we'd use our day when we're shut to do something for the carers.

"It's not been great timing opening a restaurant right before a pandemic but with the takeaway service still able to be open, we're doing well in the circumstances."
