CROSSGATES Primary School have been awarded their first Plastic Free Schools Award.
The award recognises the collective actions of pupils in creating waves of positive environmental change in their school.
Their plastic free journey started in April 2019 with the introduction of their P4-7 Plastic Free Schools Committee.
Teacher Jemma Thomas said: "Over the last year the school has made many positive changes by eliminating single use plastics such as cups, water bottles and aprons.
"They have completed five objectives which include challenging industry and Government to make reducing plastic pollution a priority.
"The Plastic Free Schools Award programme is run by Surfers Against Sewage and empowers young activists with the tools to create lasting environmental change".
