COWDENBEATH MSP Annabelle Ewing wants the Fife Council nursery allocations process to be reviewed.

It's come in for heavy criticism from parents and politicians after 385 children were told they don't have a place for next term.

Other youngsters have been told they cannot return to the nursery they were attending and must now go elsewhere.

Ms Ewing said: “I am reiterating my call for the pause button to be pressed so that the implementation of this policy can be reviewed.

“Given all the circumstances surrounding the allocation of nursery places for next year, I have asked that the deadline for acceptance of nursery places be extended.

“An extension would allow Fife Council to address the significant and genuine parent concerns that exists and ensure that the roll out of the extended hours gets it right for every child.

“There are still parents who have had no substantive clarification of the queries they have raised about the allocation they have been given.

"Nor have I received a substantive response to my letters sent on behalf of a number of very anxious constituents.”
