A RESILIENCE group has been set up in Kelty to provide a local delivery and drop off service for those that need essential goods.

Robyn Drummond created a Facebook page in March called 'Kelty Community - Let's Get Together' to make sure no one was left behind because of lockdown measures.

Out of the page, a group of volunteers have now formed who are on hand if a call comes through from the community.

Robyn said: "I currently work with the elderly and when this lockdown first happened I was working with individuals who didn't have any family or have anyone to help them get essential shopping to meet their basic needs.

"I was also aware that in Kelty a lot of our population is elderly and knew that they could be in the same situation.

"So I created this Facebook group in order to combat this and also bringing everyone together through this tough time.

"We have now created a local resilience group; myself, Maura, Fiona and Mary are all part of the core team who will receive phone calls from those that need help and we will then get in touch with our amazing volunteers to then help the individuals."

To spread the word the group organised and printed leaflets and between 25 individuals they were delivered to 3,212 houses in just three days!

Robyn added: "We have lots of things happening in Kelty right now!

"I was asked if I could help out with Oor Wee Cafe and we've all been working together from doing deliveries to sharing donations.

"People may need food but they also might need a letter to be dropped off too.

"I just hope that people who are in difficult situations feel like they have somewhere to ask for help."
